By using The Shelf, you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. The service
The Shelf is a personal reading library and reflection space — a place to curate the books you’ve read, mark favourites, explore themed quotes, and revisit your own reading life, entirely on your own device. It is not:
- a substitute for a public library catalogue, professional bibliographic record, or archival system
- a marketplace, retailer, or publisher of the books it references
2. Age requirement
The Shelf is intended for users who are at least 16 years old. Users under 16 should use the app only with a parent or legal guardian’s awareness, as no age-verification mechanism exists.
3. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Valeri Hemsi shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app — including data loss on your own device.
Nothing in this clause excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer-protection law.
4. Intellectual property
The visual identity, writing, design system, and code of The Shelf belong to Valeri Hemsi. The quotes presented in the app are attributed to their original authors where known, and are included for personal, reflective use.
5. Prohibited use
- reverse-engineering or attempting to replicate the app
- automated access (bots, scrapers) that imposes load on any part of the service
- using the app to infringe on the rights of others
6. Service availability
The app is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may modify or discontinue any part of it at our discretion.
7. Privacy
Our handling of data — in short, that we collect none — is described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey. Any dispute arising from these terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Turkey.
For consumers resident in the European Union, this clause does not deprive you of the protection afforded by mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of habitual residence under Art. 6 of the Rome I Regulation (593/2008).
10. Changes
These terms may be updated as needed; the current version is always available on this page.
